4 - 5 July

Our afternoon started a fresh with a new group of guests on the vehicle. We headed out on our afternoon drive eager to find anything interesting, we found a herd of elephant walking up Djuma old drive way, we drove towards the herd and watched them feed along the road ignoring our presence as they moved right past us.
We left the herd as they fed north wards, we moved south with intentions unknown. A mere thirty meters south of the herd we spotted tracks of a male leopard heading south towards Annette’s camp.
We knew it was extremely fresh as it was on-top of the elephant tracks we saw just a minute ago! Planning on tracking on foot we moved in the direction of the tracks to see where they might of headed off so we could follow. We barely had chance to track the leopard, as we came around the corner (twenty meters from where we started) we found the culprit, Bahuti! He was taking his afternoon beauty sleep and was planning on finishing it, with us watching or not. He laid on the side of the road for quite some time before he decided to get busy. He moved west ward marking his territory, but got interrupted as he spotted Waterbuck in the

bush not to far from him, he tried to sneak up on them but luckily came to his sense when he realised these were two large bulls witch could seriously injure him.
We left him going further west into thick bush. On our way back we found three porcupines, a relaxed white tailed mongoose and a perched pearl spotted owlet.
This morning we sat with a giraffe very relaxed north of the lodge while the sun rise lightened the day, and plenty of plains game to entertain us, on our way back we sat with another herd of elephant at Anette's dam taking a quick drink before moving off into the African bushveld.
Bush regards
