We started the
drive from the lodge as usual, but good news came over the radio. A leopard has
been spotted crossing into chitwa property, we made haste to head that way and
try and find the leopard before it disappeared. As we got there we barley
spotted the cat as it sneaked off into the thick cover of the bush.
We followed
for as long as possible trying to catch a glimpse.
Our fortune had changed as
the feline decided to rest on the river sand down in the drainage line; this
gave us the opportunity to view the cat. It was Bauti, resting off his day’s
travels.
After the leopard we headed west, far west! The reason for our journey
was due to two male lion’s which I have not seen, the Selatis’!
When we found
them they were flat cats sleeping the day away. But as we were the only ones we
sat patiently watching them, eventually they started yawning and moving around
stretching and bonding before they departed from us into the darkness, we
headed back camp side as we were already late into the night.
As usual it is
never a dull drive back, we found the Styx pride finishing off the last of the
buffalo, and bahuti crossing north over gowrie main.
This morning was the
opposite of last night, we had a short drive as the guests had a early check
out so we stayed in the east. It was plains game all over and one hyena
scratching around the garbage bin of chitwa lodge. But non the less a great stay
overall for the guests.
Bush regards
