We started our afternoon drive not knowing what to expect.
The guests wanted to see hippos as they have seen the big five that morning. My
plan was going west and to stop at big dam to enjoy the hippos. On our way
quite close to big dam we spotted a dagga boy relaxing in the tall grass.
We
enjoyed his presence and moved along, after a mere twenty meters or so we
spotted something on the road, on close inspection we saw it was a leopard! We
moved closer and law and behold Lamula! He moved off north into the thick bush,
we followed him and to our surprise he took us to his kill! Half a impala ram,
we sat with him for a full hour before the first vehicle responded, we left
having a great personal experience with him.
This morning we saw the amazing
sunrise over kaal kol and drove west we came across a big elephant bull
browsing around on our western boundary. In the west another big dagga boy
close to Simba dam and on our way back just before the drive way a group of
giraffe. One bull in particular showed off his impressive tongue trying to
reach the tasty leaves.
