Myself and Sean headed out on drive with one goal, to find a
leopard! I headed east and he went west, tracks were found not far from the
lodge just north west of Jacobin lodge, Sean started to follow as I made my way
to help, not long after a visual of the elusive cat headed east into a thick
encroached block, we tried to follow the cat, which was harder than it sounds,
we identified him a Xivambelane as he eventually came to rest in a thick
covered area. We sat and watched him before he got up and moved east again! We
followed him until he eventually came out at Jacobin open area, had great
visual of the beautiful rosette covered cat, we enjoyed his elegance and beauty
for quite some time before we left towards Anette’s camp and on the drive way we
came across wild dogs, they were chasing impala so we had to keep up! We drove
behind them for quite a while before they headed south towards mala mala, we
left happy to have seen them and the elusive leopard in the same drive.
This
morning a massive herd of buffalo came north from Jack’s pan towards Chitwa
open area, great up close experience with the bad reputation bovines, the
ox-peckers had a great time flying from buffalo to buffalo taking their pick of
tick invested buffalo to preen through.
