These two drives were a photographers dream! I’m not going
to say much but rather let the photos do the talking. On the afternoon drive we
went back to the Styx pride as they were at the same place as the morning,
beautiful hot day meant the pride was not going to be leaving the area soon.
Great sighting of the cubs and their playful ways.
Soon after a very old dagga
boy was mud wallowing at knop thorn pan. A short drive to the south west an a
herd of elephant popped out next to the road on zebra drive. Sean had a herd of
elephant at torchwood boundary before he came west to see the Styx pride as
well.
We stopped for a lovely sun downer and headed back to camp. This morning,
like every morning, we were out before the sun was. We wanted to go north of
the camp in search of animals but we could not resist a sighting as good as the
one we found. Inkayeni was in a marula tree with the left overs of her Impala
ram kill. She was feeding on it and the cubs were just playing around in the
tree, we could not see much of the cubs as it was still dark but Inkayeni was
another story, we watched her feed until the sun came up. Then only could we
start seeing the cubs properly. Breath-taking views with amazing light! We sat
for a while before we left.
On Gowrie main we found a small herd of elephant
before we stopped for coffee. Great day so far!
